What is 1-to-1 Pediatrics?

1-to-1 Pediatrics opened its doors on Valentine's Day 2011. After practicing in a busy pediatric office for 16 years, Dr. Nash formed 1-to-1 Pediatrics as a revolutionary, "low volume" practice model. By scheduling fewer patients per day, the practice prides itself on being able to spend more time with each patient, providing the highest quality, most personalized pediatric care available. Having celebrated their 11th anniversary a few months ago, the physicians and staff at 1-to-1 Pediatrics enjoy providing a different, slower paced, and nurturing environment for children and adolescents to receive preventative and urgent pediatric care. We look forward to many more years of providing our style of "Hometown Care for Your Child."
If you are looking for a special pediatric home for your family, call the office at (925) 362-1861 and inquire about scheduling a "Meet and Greet" appointment with Drs. Nash or Borden.

In Memorium: Robert I. Kadas, MD

In February 2021, the community lost a wonderful pediatrician, leader and advocate of children's health care. Robert I. Kadas was a gentle, caring physician, a mentor, devoted husband and loving father. Over his 40+ year long career practicing pediatrics he helped thousands of children and their parents. Dr. Bob will be sorely missed.

The Newborn Program
In addition to the traditional office based practice, 1-to-1 Pediatrics also offers the Newborn Program a fee-based, supplemental service designed to complement the in-office care provided to patients of Drs. Nash and Borden. Highlights of this 3 month long Newborn Program include:
- Availability of the pediatrician 24/7 for the first 3 months—have a question? Get it answered right away by your personal pediatrician--the person you trust.
- Initial newborn care from birth to 6 weeks in your home.
- Direct dispensing of many commonly prescribed medications. No more waiting at the pharmacy with your sick child.
To allow time to provide these services, enrollment in the 1-to-1 Pediatrics Newborn Program is limited. Please feel free to contact us to inquire about enrolling your family in this unique “hometown style” pediatric service.
Call our office at (925) 362-1861 to inquire about signing up!
Baseline ImPACT Tests Are Now Available Remotely!
Things have changed a bit with the COVID-19 Pandemic. We had paused in-office ImPACT baseline testing during the peak of the pandemic. Now that sports are starting up again, it is more important than ever to protect your child/athlete from concussions. ImPACT baseline tests are now available to be done at your convenience at home! Check out our Concussion page for details or just click on the link to purchase a baseline test. Tests are $50 and should be repeated every 2 years.
We Now Have Telemedicine!!!!
Important Coronavirus Update
In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, 1-to-1 Pediatrics is taking measures to protect our patients and staff from the spread of this infection. Although it appears that the pediatric population, in general, is NOT at risk for serious disease from the Novel Coronavirus, it is important to minimize spread of this infection both within our practice and the community. Some of our patients are considered immune compromised while others have lung disease potentially putting them at increased risk (more on this below). Furthermore it is important to be mindful of relatives of our patients (grandparents, etc.) who might be at risk for serious complications from this infection. Consequently, we are taking the following measures:
- Routine check ups, well baby exams, sports physicals, etc. are being scheduled as usual.
- Masks are required for all parents/caretakers as well as all patients 2 years and older.
- Anybody with potential recent exposure to COVID-19 or who may have symptoms will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
- Extra sanitizing of doorknobs, counter tops, sinks, pens, etc.
- Magazines, books and toys have been removed from exam rooms and waiting area.
- Stickers and toys (for procedures) will be handed to the patient rather than allowing children to dig through the choices.
- We may offer/encourage certain visits to be done with our physicians via remote "tele-medicine" options.
- Patients who prefer, may wait in their car or outside the office (with the parent or caregiver) until an exam room is available. We are happy to contact you when ready.
- We may ask some patients with symptoms possibly consistent with COVID-19 disease to not come into the office. We will have their exam by the physician done in the vehicle or on our front porch.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our patients and families. At this point, things are in such flux that our recommendations and procedures may change on a daily basis. Please feel free to check back to this web page for any updates on our office policies. Otherwise, the CDC website is an excellent source of accurate and up to date information.
To be clear, to date there has been a relatively small number of cases of severe disease from COVID-19 in the pediatric population in this country or elsewhere in the world. It does not appear that the pediatric population normally considered "at risk" for complications from influenza is experiencing severe symptoms from this novel coronavirus infection. The measures we are taking are focused on slowing the spread of the infection within our community as a whole so as to minimize infection to the elderly population or the adult population with pre-existing or immune compromised states. In these times, panic is not indicated. However, thoughtful action, extreme attention to hygiene, and "social distancing" for the time being will help us get through this together.
